the story behind the brand

The Origin of Butchers & Bicycles

Founded in 2013 in Copenhagen, Denmark, Butchers & Bicycles emerged from a passion for redefining urban mobility. The company was the brainchild of three friends and design engineers—Morten Mogensen, Jakob Bremer, and Morten Wagener—who shared a vision of creating a cargo bike that combined practicality with the joy of cycling. Inspired by Copenhagen's vibrant cycling culture, they sought to design a cargo bike that felt like riding a regular bicycle, even with heavy loads.

The name "Butchers & Bicycles" pays homage to the Meatpacking District of Copenhagen, where their first workshop was established. This industrial and creative neighborhood fueled their ambition to build innovative solutions for urban transportation. Driven by the principle of enhancing city life through better design, their bikes are meticulously crafted with premium materials and groundbreaking technology, including their signature tilt-frame steering.

Today, Butchers & Bicycles continues to lead the charge in sustainable mobility, offering a unique blend of functionality, aesthetics, and performance that empowers families, entrepreneurs, and urban dwellers around the world. Their dedication to quality and user experience makes their bikes a symbol of modern, eco-friendly transportation.
